Any good smiths around here?

So, are there any reputable smiths in the Topeka area? Can they properly install iron sights on a bolt rifle? Can they cut down a shotgun barrel and install chokes?
These are jobs that I believe any competent smith should be able to perform well. If they fail at these I'm not sure I want to go to them.

I dont know about the topeka area anymore. Back when I lived there, the options were few, and what ones were there, werent great.

I do know theres a fellow in the area named Pete Rafferty that alot of guys say is decent.

If you were to venture to KC metro, Simmons in Olathe has been a community staple. And I dont know if Mike Allee is still operating. Last i knew he was running under someone elses FFL with the name Gunsmithing Only.

Carlson choke tubes out of Atwood KS at one time would cut barrels and thread them for tubes.

Mail them the barrel, they do the work and send it back

On the rifle side, my dad has had a bunch of rifles worked on by a bunch of different smiths; with various degrees of results.

If I was going to get any rifle work done and wanted it to be local-ish, I would call up GA Precision in North Kansas City Missouri. The rifles we have gotten back from them have been great.

There haven't been any decent gunsmiths in Topeka since the early 90's.

Simmons has been around awhile, though their CS is nonexistent and turnaround can be slow depending on what you want done and how willing they're wanting to do it.

Mike Allee ran Gunsmithing Only until BATFE pulled his FFL like they did a number of dealers pre-Trump. He's now doing gunsmithing out of Penguin Pawn but his services are limited.
