Today's post is going to look a lot like yesterday's, but it is not the same rifle.
Remington Model 512 Sportmaster
Also best known for the beehive bolt and for being boringly reliable.
This is the tube mag sibling to the Model 511.
The Model 512 was part of a popular series of Remington rimfire rifles that included the 510, 511, 512, 513, and 514.
The 512 was manufactured from 1940ā1962.
This one dates to Oct 1949
Total Production: Approximately: 395,000
Bolt-action
25-inch tapered round barrel
Made to feed .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle cartridges
15 round tube magazine (22LR)
Simple rocker-type safety at the right rear of the action. It blocks the trigger but does not lock the bolt.
When cocked, the rear of the firing pin protrudes from the back of the bolt shroud, providing a visual and tactile ācockedā indicator.
Other variants:
Model 512P
The Model 512P had the same specs as the standard model but with a patridge-type blade front sight and a "point-crometer" peep rear sight.
Model 512SB
The Model 512SB was the SmoothBore model (Garden Gun) with open sights.
Model 512X
The Model 512X featured improved sights (same as the Nylon series) and was produced from 1964 until 1966 with 30,670 made. It had a thinner, non-taped 24" barrel.
