Let's talk movies; what you like, dislike, plan to watch, etc.

Today, since both my wife and myself like the Duke, we're seeing Legend of the Lost, Brannigan, Rio Bravo, Rio Lobo, and then Big Jake.

I like Stephen King's The Stand. I refer to the 1994 mini-series not the 2020 version.

Anyone else?
 
I do like old movies, especially westerns and crime drama/mysteries but I don’t watch much TV so I rarely see one anymore.

However, I have watched a few shows on my phone on Amazon Prime and BritBox.

Two series that I really enjoyed was “The Man in High Castle” and The Americans”, both on Amazon.

I enjoy watching “Silent Witness” on BritBox.

I haven’t been to a movie in over ten years, we are 45 miles from the closest theater.
 
Used to like the Spaghetti Westerns, but watch "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" and "For A Few Dollars More" and realized I like more realism in movies now. So "Unforgiven", "The Outlaw Josey Walew", "Tombstone", "Ride With The Devil" and "Wyatt Earp" are at the top of my list for Westerns. As far as John Wayne, "She Wore A Yellow Ribbon" is my fave.
 
As far as westerns go, my favorites are (in no specific order)
  • Unforgiven
  • Magnificent Seven (with Denzel Washington, 2016)
  • Magnificent Seven (original, 1956)
  • Purgatory: West of the Pecos (1999)
  • Quigley Down Under
  • The Last Samurai (2003) Yeah, I know....technically not a western, because it takes place in Japan. But the themes could be easily translated into a western.
 
The 1950's were the Golden Age of sci-fi movies.

The Creature from the Black Lagoon
Tarantula
The Mole People.........................................

There are lots more where they came from.

I'll have to look-up Purgatory. I'm not familiar with it.
 
Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen were good in the murder mystery Wind River, set in the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming. A young woman is found dead on an outdoor trail in the winter, and it turns out that she was assaulted and the story centers on who did it. Renner plays a state game agent who assists the unprepared FBI agent Olson in getting around the Wyoming wilderness, as she tries to get to the bottom of what happened to the murdered girl. Interesting but very brief sequence on loading what appears to be 45-70 cartridges.
