Just a quick poll for everyone

As optics gain popularity among those who carry, I can’t help but wonder what your setup is. Are you using red dot on your EDC or do you still lean towards traditional iron sights?

I am still using iron sights on my everyday carry. I am old and have always used irons, so

it's been tough to break the habit. Finding the dot in a hurry is my biggest problem. I often

wonder if have a laser pointer on the pistol would be better (except in bright daylight). I

do have a Glock 17 clone with a red dot on it and I am trying to "get used to it" by dry firing at

targets in my basement. I guess I will see if I can teach this old dog a new trick.

Edit to add: I voted sticking to irons and both since I am trying a red dot.

For handguns I'm still an Iron sight guy for now but mostly because I only have a couple of pistols that are optics ready and I don't have the $ to spend on them. I do follow the advancements in the optics market and costs are coming down so some day I will get some installed. Planning for the future I have reached the point where I will not buy a pistol unless it is optics ready.

I do have some red dots on a couple of AR's and love them.

I don't carry, but if I did....I would stick with iron sights.

My theory is if you are in a shootout, you will not take your eyes off the target as long as he poses a threat. And he better have posed a threat, because if he didn't, you're going to have a lot of answering to do.
