Alrighty folks, it's the first day of Kansas' Antlerless season, so a few of us have bound to have filled a freezer with Bambi by now! Share your story, or your pictures!

I'll go first:

Got this gal first thing this morning. She walked right down a logging road to me. Don't think she had a clue I was in the woods before I dropped her with a head shot.

She's not the biggest in the world, but my daughter was excited to see her.

My wife also had some luck this morning, and got this gal with her .300 BLK AR pistol. Had a ballistic anomaly with her, as the bullet entered directly behind the left shoulder, did a ton of damage to the internals, blew a couple holes out of her right side, and then somehow the bullet lodged in her neck.

Looks like nobody else like to post up their kills. Oh well.

My wife and I had a very successful conclusion to our 2025 season this week. Thursday morning, we both filled our Buck tags.

Here's mine:

I was very late getting out to the blind, so it was already shooting light when I headed out across the meadow from my parking spot to the blind. I only made it about 20m or so into the meadow when I saw a buck walking across the meadow right in front of my blind. I dropped to prone, but didn't really have a good shot at him, so I decided to let him pass. I just started to get back up, when I realized there was a second buck following him, and this one had a much bigger rack. He stopped and gave me a good broad side shot, so I decided to take it. Ended up being about 75-100m if my guesstimate from where we both were was accurate. He jogged about 20m, tail down, and then disappeared into the brush on the other side of the meadow. Turns out, he fell into a dry creek bed. I actually walked right by him when I went looking for him, and didn't find him until I circled back. Only found a single drop of blood on his trail, so I'm glad he didn't go far. When we skinned him, it turned out I had double lunged him. I have to say, I've always been skeptical of hunting with 5.56, but this season my Daniel Defense M4A1 put in work.

My wife's buck wasn't as big, but she's still happy with him. She watched a 6 point "young punk" eat a ton of corn before this guy walked in. One shot, he ran about 25m or so, and crashed. Bullet went through a lung and split his heart.

Not pictured, but we both also got additional does on Friday. Mine was a repeat of my doe back in October; dropped her with a head shot at about 30m. This time with my new HK MR556A4.

I showed up late to my spot last thursday because the same reason i didnt get to go on the opener.... the railroad sucks. Decide i cant make it to my spot and instead walk the highest point of the field so i can see everything as i crest the hill. This guy pops over the fence 300+ to my right. I stop, he sniffs and proceeds to walk directly towards me. I had fully intended to wait for something bigger, but as he got to 100 yards from me, i raised up and put a 55gr Vmax in his tater. And, VMAX because tater shots.

And if i get another day off before it closes, ill give him some friends to keep warm.
