Taurus .38 Super 1911 stopped production?

I don’t remember them making a 1911 .38 super however they probably did. They did make a PT38 pistol in .38 super. It’s a good cartridge but with there being so much 9mm out there it just never made a big comeback. The cartridge has a great history and I sometimes wish I still had one but I don’t know what I’d do with it.

I feel like Taurus decided to stop producing the .38 Super 1911s mainly for business reasons. I don't have any issues with owning one of the older models anyways.

I really wanted a PT38 but the reviews were poor for its reliability. I did end up getting a Kimber Team Match in .38 super that I shot some in IDPA but mostly just for fun. It’s a fun cartridge but like the 28 gauge you really need to reload to afford shooting it. And after all is said and done it really doesn’t have any advantage over a good 9mm. Originally the .38 super was designed to be used in the 1911 as a cartridge that would defeat car bodies. A .45 acp would not penetrate a car door in the late 20s early 30s.

If I ever ran into a nice, clean .38 Super 1911 at a decent price, I’d buy it without second thoughts.
