The Savage Rascal represents a modern version of a boy’s rifle.

The Savage Rascal is a youth bolt-action rifle manufactured in Westfield, Massachusetts, USA and also in Lakefield, Ontario, Canada. It features Savage's user-adjustable AccuTrigger system, a manual safety, a short length of pull, adjustable peep sights, and it is drilled and tapped for scope mounts. Other key features include its lightweight, compact design, a free-floated or semi free-floated barrel depending on model, and a feed ramp for drop in cartridge loading.

  • A rocker-type two-position safety is located on the right side of the receiver, and it allows the rifle to be loaded and unloaded with the safety engaged.
  • There’s a visible cocking indicator extending from the rear of the shroud, so one quick glance or a swipe of the thumb tells you if the rifle is ready to fire.
  • Lifting the bolt handle cocks the rifle, and it requires just under eight pounds of pressure to do so. This light weight makes it easier for young shooters to work the action.
  • There is a great aftermarket for these rifles. Including 3rd party stocks and stock extensions so that even adults can use them.

The yellow one is equipped with a compact 4x32 scope and a 3D printed stock extension (yellow was a custom order).
The purple one is straight out of the box.

Interesting little rifle. I am surprised that at it’s price point the bolt actually cocks on closing instead of a cocking knob at the rear of the bolt.

For the price I may have to get one with a stock extension.

Yeah, it makes them so much easier to use than the Crickett and in my experience the young un's like them better for that reason as well.

I paid just under $150 ea for mine.
