It's not all just rifles...... :)

American Arms CX-22
This is semi-clone of a Walther PP/ PPK designed and initially produced by Erma Werke in Germany. Later on several manufacturers began making the frame in the US but imported the rest of the parts from ERMA to get around the 1968 Gun Control Act (GCA).
These were cheap guns and most, if not all, had zinc alloy frames. Finishes, barrels, and grip lengths varied between models and brands. Most looked like a Walther PP/ PPK clone, but some models had features (particularly the grips) that looked more like a small 1911.

A majority of the manufactures used a variation of the XX-22 formula for model names.

  • And more I'm probably not aware of

American Arms, Inc.. Was located in North Kansas City, MO. And was in business from about 1975 until 2000.

Here is a YouTube video I found that goes over this little pistol fairly well. (Not my video.)

And here is the manual for the Erma RX-22. The CX-22 will be very similar if not the same.

It is impossible to accurately date this pistol, but it is most likely from the 1980s. I got mine without a magazine but was lucky enough to find 2 NOS mags still in the boxes.
