Any red dot owners?

For those of you who use a red dot sight on your serious firearms, what optic size and mounting height have you come to trust? Are you aligning it with your iron sights, keeping it lower, or not using irons at all? I'd love to hear about your firearm model, the optic you chose, your mounting setup, and how you’ve arranged your irons so we can see what setups are effective.

I'm a fan of holographic sights like EOTech or Vortex's AMG UH-1. I prefer a lower-1/3 mounting height. I'm not opposed to higher mounts, and have played around with stuff like the Unity Fast riser, but I didn't care for that particular set up.

I thought I had commented on this but I guess not.

The only Red Dot sight I have came with a Browning .22 pistol. I tried using it but found myself raising the gun a bit too high and would have to then lower it to obtain the sight picture. I ended up taking it off and putting the iron sight back on.

I may try it again now that I can shoot at home up to about 50 feet. It's not much as I'd like but it's better than not shooting at all.
