Are milsurp markets still worth it?

How's the military surplus market looking these days? I remember when you could get a Mosin for less than $100 and stock up on surplus ammo without worrying. Now it feels like everything is either running low or priced like it's a rare collectible. Are there still some good deals out there if you know where to search, or have most of the great imports already been picked over? Is it still worth it?

The market is on the downward slide right now. Still up from $100 Mosins, but not the $3K+ Garands we saw last year.

Definitely. Granted I havent cruised the sites for the used market in several years, but the market had definitely taken a turn to trade ins vs milsurps. Buds, kygunco, summit, etc... were flooded with cheap M&P's and overpriced Glock fowtys.

I will agree with that. Police surplus is the "cheap" surplus option for folks. A lot of stuff tends to be over priced (Looking at all of the .40 cal Glocks for instance) but we've had good luck with stuff like less lethal marked 870s and some M&Ps.

I kinda miss the “old” market vibe. I used to log on just to see what random surplus gem might appear. I’m not saying the trade-ins aren’t good buys, but that rush of finding a milsurp at a great price? They're gone....

I used to love staring at all the Mausers for hours at the gun shows 20 years ago. I really started noticing the absence of milsurp after uncle sugar said no more importation of russian ammo and components.

The days of the unfired M48 Yugos, and 1440rds of combloc 7.92x57 for $75 ea are unfortunately long gone.

Although, i havent seen a Mosin in an Archangel stock listed for $500+ in a long while either.
