Diamondback Sidekick

Doing something newer today. And this one is even currently in production. 😁

Released by Diamondback Firearms in late 2021, the Sidekick is a faithful reproduction of the 1950s High Standard Double Nine revolver. It mimics the iconic look of the Colt Single-Action Army (SAA) revolver with the functional benefits of being double-action, having a nine-shot swing-out cylinder, able to eject all cases simultaneously, and quickly convertible between 22lr and 22wmr. These features greatly improve the versatility and ease of use over the SAA.

Dimensionally, the frame is the same as the Heritage Rough Rider and the Ruger Wrangler. So close in fact, that the grip panels are interchangeable. I currently have a set of aftermarket Ruger Wrangler grips installed on mine.

I owned both the Heritage Rough Rider and the Ruger Wrangler before getting the Diamondback Sidekick. I have since sold the Heritage and the Ruger. Neither could match the ease of use the Sidekick provides.

This one was produced in either 2021 or 2022.

Is the ejector rod and housing on the side of the barrel just for show? To make it look more like a "cowboy" gun or does it have a function?

Either way, good write up on it. I had heard of Diamondback Firearms but never heard of the Sidekick models.

Thanks for an interesting write up!
