The range has been open for about 10 years now, but my first time going there.
South of KC, major intersection of 255th and 169 hiway
My experience
Pull up to the guard shack, need to determine if you have a state park permit, $5 one time use or $15 per year. Just to go onto the range.
After that, determine how many people are in your car and how much each person should be charged, $15 per adult and free if your child qualifies as a youth.
Then you get asked what caliber of firearms you are shooting and how may rounds you will shoot for each caliber. Just gave a guess, I don't think that out ahead of time.
After all those hoops, pay my money and go into the range.
Park, get all my gear out, walk up to the shooting benches, then get met by the Range Officer. Starts quizzing me on what I am shooting and based on the answers, he determined where I get to shoot (didn't care for that)
After I get to my bay, the RO is over my shoulder watching me take targets out and pulling out one gun to shoot. (Weird)
I finally get to set up targets and start shooting, and the RO is staring me down, ask him what is going on and he stares at me and walks away. (More weird)
As I am shooting .22 LR I take a break and he (the RO) walks up to my table and starts picking up my 22 cases before I get a chance to police my station. Don't care for the nannying.
After 30 minutes being there, he stopping hovering over me and then it was a pleasant experience.
It's a nice range, prices are ok and it is pretty convenient. If you can get past the RO , then it is a pretty nice place.
