The formal name for this knife is the MIL-K 818 also known as the "milk" knife, after the MIL (Military) K (knife) 818 (Construction Standard Number 818). Sometimes referred to as a "Demo" knife because one was included in military demolition kits. The MIL-K was patterned after a popular four-bladed utility/camp knife that was adopted for use by the Boy Scouts, incorporating a 2-1/2-inch spear-point main blade, a can opener, a screwdriver/bottle opener and a punch.
Also produced for the civilian market as the Military Camp Knife. Current Government versions are stamped "U.S." on one scale, while civilian versions have been stamped "U.S.," "U.S.M.C.," "U.S.A.F." and "U.S.N."
