I've had a few older Colts before, and they were great. However, I haven't really tracked their newer models. I'm curious t if the latest pistols are performing well or if there are any concerns I should be aware of.

Welcome to the group! I haven't owned very many Colts (a New Frontier .22/.22 mag, a 70 Series 1911 and an 80 Series 1911) and none of them would be considered 'newer' models. So I can't vouch for the 'new' ones. Sorry!

Like you, I had very good experience with the old ones, though. I always wanted to get a Colt .22 Semi Auto target pistol but never could talk my friend out of his.

I graduated high school in the mid seventies and bought several colts and shot several other colts. Sorry but I wasn’t ever impressed by the series 70 1911s if the time. The 1911s currently being produced by other companies are sooo much more reliable. However the revolvers of that period were great. My dad had several Diamond back revolvers that were great. I always loved the python however never owned one.

A Colt Viper 357 is the latest handgun I have bought and I am very favorably impressed with it. The trigger pull is great, being very smooth with none of the 'staginess' that old-timers like myself have come to expect from a Colt product. Having completed the function-firing, test, I feel very confident that my Colt won't let me down in a 'social situation' and it is now my hot-weather EDC.

Granted, some of the DA revolvers (post 2020) have had some issues, but I understand that these have been resolved. Mine works superbly, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

Hope this helps.
