Planning a trip to visit family and I'm trying to map out the best route. Considering bringing a firearm along, but I know going through New York State can be a real hassle. Avoiding NY adds a ton of extra drive time, which isn't ideal. Just wondering if anyone else has run into this situation and what you ended up doing. I'm open to any tips or suggestions to make this a bit easier.

My wife and I have been out there a dozen times to visit a cousin of hers. We just got back last Friday from being out there. We do fly out there and it's a hassle to fly with a firearm, but the New York laws are so jacked up that I have just decided it wouldn't be worth it to even try. My wife doesn't want to drive out 'cuz she thinks driving out would be a waste of time.

Ive always treated traveling through communists states (CA, IL) the same as the nons. Rather have it and not need it, than not.

That being said, I've never been into the proper yankee section of this country, and i know theres many areas out there where just being in posession of a concealed weapon, or even HP ammo will get your dick in a vise.

You might want to carry this instead of a firearm:

CO2 powered chemical projectile launcher…. I've never heard of these.

Interesting….

Theres a channel on the Youtubes, Houston Jones, who tests out random items to inflict pain upon himself and the results. Hes tested these and the rubber paintball launchers. Both show be a good pain deterrent. The issue with these pepper balls is they dont always break.

Might look at laws and cases where you are not stopping but passing through, I thought these instances allowed you to posess in your vehicle (Castle Laws).

The other option, have 2 different mags carrry a low cap and lock up the high caps while there on stops. Or have a car safe and lock it entirely up if you are worried as well. Not much different than flying and passing through Denver Airport to go to another free state.

Found this on X this morning.

I saw some other posts, with pics of the law, that if you are just traveling through, according to Illinois state law you can have a loaded gun in your car for that state. Doesn't look like the cops care, they just hauled his ass to jail! I will double check and see if I can pull up screen shots or even find the post again.

He had the right to remain silent, but apparently not the ability.
