I had mentioned in another thread titled "What Gun would that be" about a rifle of my Dad's
that loaned out to an uncle, then passed away and his son took it as his own thinking it was his
dads, then when my cousin passed, one of his kids took it as his thinking it was his dads. BUT
I managed to get the rifle back after my Dad passed away by talking to my cousins widow.

Yeah, what a nightmare. My Dad's rifle was gone for almost 40 years.

The dilemma is: I have my dad's rifle and cherish it, but I betting my kids won't. So I
wonder what will happen to that rifle after I am gone.

So....the topic is:

What will happen to YOUR guns when you pass away?

Will your wife sell them?
Will your kids want any of them?
Are you going to will any of them to your kids or other relatives?

Just curious. I have a lot of guns and my wife really doesn't want anything to do with them. My youngest son I doubt
will want any of them. My daughter may want one of my pistols and maybe a rifle. I am certain my wife will want to sell
the lot of them except for what the daughter wants. (hope she doesn't sell them for what I told her I bought them for! LOL)

1. You bet. I've created a notebook of all of them, a photo of each, and my guess at value.
2. No. Our kids are all girls; no interest in guns at all.
3. No. None of our nieces and nephews have any interest.

If I haven't sold them all by then (watch classifieds)...

Will your wife sell them?
she has instructions to reach out to LGS (business card taped on safe door) for consignment

Will your kids want any of them?
no

gpa's WWI 1911 may go to older cousin's son.. already gave gpa's deer rifle to another cousin

Having just had to deal with moms passing, I will strongly encourage everyone to have their wishes lined out on paper.

Kids- yes. My oldest daughter will recieve the majority. The younger girls will have some to pick from if they wish. And a few are slated for my best friend and my brother. There will be no contesting my wishes for disbursement. However, they can fight over who gets the reloading supplies, and tools, as those are both going to be adventures on their own.

Also, if you've still.got your mother, call her and tell her you love her today, otherwise, I will come visit you in your sleep.

I know what you're going through. My Dad passed away in 1987 and Mom in 1998. I still think about them DAILY and wish they were still here to answer the many questions I've had that only they could answer.

While we feel the pain of their passing, at least they didn't have to go through the loss of us, one of their children. I'm thankful for that.

I forgot to add that you can vote for 2 in the poll. The "I like pie" is an AR15.com thing for
those that don't want to vote for the other selections but want to vote!
