Anyone have hopes for this? I see it going either way - back to a $200 stamp (or other lower amount, $1 Bob..) or amended to off the NFA that was originally proposed.

If these go off the registry - suppressors will be cleaned off the shelf! Threaded barrels will be out of stock for 2 years!

I'd love to see it happen, but I'm not holding my breath. I'd say the odds are split evenly between the GOA winning their court case and getting the NFA gutted, the status quo staying the same, and some jackass Dem getting the tax stamp raised to $5k.

Be nice to be able to just buy a short barrel for my Spear, or swap my DD uppers around without worrying about suddenly "manufacturing" an SBR because I put the wrong upper on the wrong lower.

Well...the whole NFA is unconstitutional, but we should take the bites we can. Hopefully the opposition has dug themselves a little hole and it looks like there is a good opening to at least get the SBRs and Suppressors removed. But for any other bill with the language for removal...probablynot happening...not enough votes. For the recent lawsuit, great arguments...but it will be opposed tooth and nail by folks who just don't have a clue.

This is the biggest hurdle, people making decisions on matters they don't understand or have very little to no knowledge about.

Here is a good summary of the recently filed lawsuit, and link from where it came from:

ASA & LEADING 2A ORGANIZATIONS
FILE LAWSUIT TO CHALLENGE NFA
On August 1, 2025, a coalition of four leading gun rights organizations comprised of the American Suppressor Association (ASA), National Rifle Association (NRA), Second Amendment Foundation (SAF), and Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC), announced the filing of a joint federal lawsuit in the District of Missouri challenging the constitutionality of the National Firearms Act (NFA). In 1937, the Supreme Court ruled that the NFA was primarily a revenue-generating measure and the registration requirements of the statute served to verify who had paid the required tax. With the tax rate of $0 as part of the One Big Beautiful Bill, the constitutionality of requiring suppressor owners to register with the federal government is no longer valid. This litigation joins Anderson v. Raoul, and Padua v. Platkin, the ASA Foundation and Silencer Shop—backed lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of the ban on suppressors in Illinois and New Jersey, at the forefront of pro-suppressor litigation.

ASA-F WILL FIGHT UNTIL EVERY SUPPRESSOR BAN IS OVERTURNED!
1. The registration and tax scheme of the NFA is unconstitutional
In 1937, the Supreme Court ruled that the NFA was primarily a revenue-generating measure and the registration requirements of the statute served to verify who had paid the required tax.
2. THE SECOND AMENDMENT PROTECTS YOUR RIGHT TO HAVE SUPPRESSORS
Suppressors have been classified as firearms since 1934. As such, they are bearable arms and must be afforded the same Constitutional protections by the Second Amendment as firearms.
3. ASA-F WILL FIGHT TO END THE REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS OF THE NFA
Suppressors are modern day hearing protection devices that should not be subject to the unconstitutional tax and registration requirements of the National Firearms Act.

:ROFLMAO: In another world:

OSHA would require suppressors on ALL firearms!

ALL state departments of fish & game would require suppressors while hunting, so as not to stress the wildlife with loud muzzle blasts.

The Veterans' Administration, the American Legion, DAV, etc. would insist on suppressors on ALL military small arms!

The Consumer Protection Agency would require recalls on ALL firearms without suppressors!

I think they've got a very, very good case to pull SBR's and suppressors off the NFA. Infact, depending on how deep they want to go I believe they could make the argument to deep 6 the entire NFA altogether. This is probably the most RKBA friendly administration and SCOTUS we've had since 1934.
