My dad had the NRA commemorative. Unfortunately as for collector value, he had it tapped for a scope mount. How is the bore finish on yours? I thought the one on dad's looked awful for a factory gun. It had tool marks.
I haven't noticed any tool marks in mine. It's definitely more than accurate enough for whitetail. I typically shoot 170gr.
Mine wouldn't have any collector value as it has spent a lot of time in the field and has the wear to prove it.
I bought mine used and set up as it is now. I don't know if they were originally tapped for a tang sight or if a previous owner had it tapped. It has a Lyman sight, the factory barrel mounted rear sight was removed and a Marbles barrel blank installed.
It might be my favorite lever action rifle that I own.

I've always admired the Model 63 type 94's with the half magazine and rifle length barrel. If Dad's had had a good bore, I probably would have kept it and used it for cast bullet loads. My niece has it now.
I agree, they are good looking rifles. I don't know why this one is considered a model 94, it is virtually identical to the pistol gripped model 64.
